    Job Details

  • Travel RN position at Hillside Hospital, part of Southern Tennessee Regional Health System in Pulaski, TN.
  • Facility is a 95-bed, Joint Commission-accredited acute care facility providing inpatient and outpatient services.
  • Position is in the Detox unit with 13 beds and patient ratios of 1:7.
  • Role involves patient care of all ages, bedside shift report, IV access, and assisting with bedside procedures such as PICC lines and midlines.
  • Common diagnoses include substance abuse, polysubstance abuse, alcohol use disorder, behavioral conditions, hypertension, syncope, seizures, liver disease, cognitive changes, and high fall risk.
  • Treatments include valium tapers, subutex, vivitrol, banana bags, rescue medications, and routine/home meds.
  • Personality fit includes willingness to learn, teamwork, respect for department expectations, calmness in chaotic situations, confidence in clinical judgment, and a positive attitude towards process improvement.
  • Education expectation is ASN minimum; licensure/certification required to work as an RN in Tennessee.

  • Required certifications prior to start: BLS, ALS, PALS (PALS to be handled with care after hire).
  • Licensure/certification required to work as an RN in Tennessee.
  • Preferred experience: 5+ years (3+ years acceptable).
  • Experience with CIWA/COWS preferred.
  • Must have skills: patient care of all ages, bedside shift report, IV access.
  • Float requirements: may be required to float to other departments as needed but not standard.

    Schedule Information

  • Shift details not explicitly specified; weekly guaranteed hours are 36 hours.
  • Weekend hours: every other weekend and as needed.

  • Unit: Detox.
  • Number of beds: 13.
  • Patient ratios: 1:7.
  • Equipment includes IV pumps, Zoll monitor, IV catheters.

  • Supervisors: Director and CNC.
  • Patient population: ages 18 to geriatric, occasionally 17-year-old patients.
  • Required certifications: BLS, ALS, PALS (PALS to be handled with care after hire).
  • Preferred experience with CIWA/COWS.
  • Common diagnoses and treatments related to substance abuse and behavioral health.
  • No specialty needed but experience with CIWA/COWS preferred.
  • Float requirements: may be required to float to other departments as needed but not standard.

    Additional Details

  • Orientation is weekly on Mondays.
  • Candidates must be 60 miles or greater to be considered Travel.
  • All clinical staff must be checked against the Tennessee Abuse Registry prior to assignment start date; results required prior to start.
  • Dress code: any solid color scrubs; no outerwear with logos or prints not of hospital logo, no hoodies, no open-toed shoes, no t-shirts except on specified days, no jewelry or items that can be pulled out, used to choke, or as a weapon.
  • Education expectations to be completed during contract.
  • Required audits and processes including bedside shift report, briefs, debriefs, and unit checks are expected to be followed and completed.
