Position Overview As an entry-level Substation Engineer, you will be a part of a growing team that supports all aspects of the construction process by performing innovative design engineering through brainstorming conceptual designs, performing and/or reviewing electrical calculations, developing plans, scheduling tasks to meet client needs, as well as mitigating risk to keep our construction crews safe. As part of this team of highly specialized design professionals, you will support a variety of substation, transmission and distribution projects ranging from 12kV to 500kV in both engineering detailed design and Engineer, Procure, Construct (EPC) projects for clients throughout the country. We offer a variety of engineering services, including owner's engineering, project development, detailed engineering and design, construction management and plant services. Our engineering teams bring power projects to life across North America in the following areas: Gas-fired generation Power delivery Environmental retrofits Renewables and new technology Water/wastewater Location This position is based out of our Columbus, OH office. Responsibilities Assist project team in creating all design documents and drawings, including one and three-line diagrams, protection and control schematics, communications diagrams, wiring diagrams, substation layout plan, section and detail drawings and application of mark-ups for project built drawings. Specification development for the procurement, installation and testing of substation equipment. Apply engineering application software to complete engineering tasks such as ground grid design, equipment sizing, relay coordination, and electrical studies. Communicate and coordinate project activities with project lead, customer representatives, and other stakeholders. Qualifications Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university 3.0 cumulative GPA preferred 0-2 years of experience performing engineering related duties Knowledge of engineering standards including NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE and ANSI Eligibility to take Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam or Engineer-In-Training (EIT) license Legally able to work in the United States for any length of time Strong written and verbal communication skills; fluent in the English language Other Requirements Regular, reliable attendance Work productively and meet deadlines timely Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment. Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies. Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required. May work at various different locations and conditions may vary.
