The Ranch Hand position is responsible for the daily care, movement, and health of cattle within a cattle pre-conditioning yard environment. This role requires strong horsemanship skills, an understanding of animal behavior, and the ability to work in all weather conditions. A successful candidate will ensure cattle are handled humanely and efficiently to maintain health, performance, and welfare standards

Essential Functions

• Complete understanding of compliance standards
• Cleaning of water troughs
• Monitor cattle daily for signs of illness, injury, or distress
• Ride pens and diagnose health issues; sort and pull sick animals for treatment
• Administer vaccines and medications as directed by animal health protocols
• Move and sort cattle safely and efficiently using proper stockmanship techniques
• Assist with shipping, receiving, and processing cattle
• Maintain clean and organized working facilities, including pens and alleyways
• Collaborate with veterinarians, feed truck drivers, and pen riders
• Maintain accurate records of animal movements, treatments, and conditions
• Comply with all safety protocols, animal welfare standards, and environmental regulations

Other Duties include but not limited to:

• Acquire a working knowledge of operations of mixing feed, driving feed trucks, and delivering feed to cattle
• Pen repairs and maintenance
• Routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to ride horseback for extended periods
• Capable of lifting 50+ lbs and working in dusty, noisy, and physically demanding environments
• Stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods of time

Required Education and Experience

• Fluent English and preferred Spanish
