Position Summary

The Project Manufacturing Engineer maintains manufacturing process and layout improvements, owning and overseeing machine capabilities documentation and pursuing equipment upgrades, and is an expert resource for fabricators on the shop floor in structural welding and machining applications. The Project Manufacturing Engineer provides on-site support and interacts with all OTECH departments as necessary to provide technical support to Production Group management and technicians for OTECH manufacturing, engineering, and test activities.

Duties And Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL:

PROCESS IMPROVEMENT:
    \n
  • Perform process analysis, process improvements, process design and control including metrics, goals, targets and standardization
  • \n
  • Ensure document management and manufacturing control compliance
  • \n
  • Lead on-going efforts to optimize the layout of manufacturing and create the justification needed to warrant any changes
  • \n
  • Actively participate in Non-Conformance Report (NCR) dispositions
  • \n
  • Create and own lessons learned log
  • \n
  • Evaluate parts, weldments, and assemblies based on Design for Manufacturability and recommend changes and best practices to engineers
  • \n
  • Provide expertise and technical leadership on manufacturing process flow and design transfer
  • \n

SHOP EQUIPMENT:
    \n
  • Lead equipment modifications and improvements
  • \n
  • Conduct and lead failure investigations
  • \n
  • Attend trade shows and stay current with latest manufacturing technologies to aid in future road maps
  • \n
  • Recommends and justifies manufacturing equipment upgrade, replacement and disposal
  • \n

MANUFACTURING EXPERTISE:
    \n
  • Use in-depth knowledge of additive manufacturing, composite fabrication methods, welding processes, and material corrosion properties to provide insight during design and fabrication.
  • \n
  • Provide expert support for fabricators on the floor in weld mapping, bracing, and drawing interpretation.
  • \n
  • Provide general shop support including fixturing design and resource recommendations. Investigate and answer design and drawing questions.
  • \n
  • Actively contribute to the sourcing of machined and fabricated components to internal and external resources.
  • \n

  • Ensure Design and Production maintain OTECH Quality objectives.
  • \n
  • Program and operate additive manufacturing equipment and support rapid prototyping efforts.
  • \n
  • Demonstrate leadership in safety initiatives.
  • \n

Qualifications

REQUIRED:
    \n
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent.
  • \n
  • 5-10 years of Engineering experience in a metal manufacturing environment.
  • \n
  • Minimum five (5) years manufacturing experience with machine, fabrication, welding, and assembly shop operations.
  • \n
  • Familiarity with CNC machining processes; ability to write programs is a plus.
  • \n
  • Understanding of welding processes, welding symbols, base materials, and best practices.
  • \n
  • Thorough understanding of ASME Y14.5 2009 and its interpretation and application of Geometric Dimensions and Tolerances.
  • \n
  • Proficiency in the application of current engineering software (i.e. SolidWorks, Creo etc.).
  • \n
  • Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • \n
  • Ability to work independently with strong leadership skills.
  • \n
  • Must be able to obtain a United States Government Security Clearance.
  • \n

DESIRED:

  • Hands-on experience in welding or machining.
  • \n
  • Working knowledge of process improvement methods.
  • \n
  • Experience working in an ISO environment.
  • \n
  • Manufacturing experience with additive manufacturing equipment and composite materials.

  • Manufacturing experience with advanced, corrosion resistant stainless steel and titanium materials.
  • \n
  • Knowledge in forging or casting processes, metal surface finishes and post-processing techniques.

We offer a comprehensive and competitive benefits package. Annualized pay rate for this position: $92,750 - $132,250.
