The Patient Safety Technician - ED Tech is responsible for certain aspects of patient monitoring and care tasks, which have a moderate degree of difficulty. Employee will be expected to be involved with maintaining safety of patients to which the employee is assigned to monitor. Employee will also be responsible for managing situations in which patients present volatile behavioral health characteristics and call for assistance as needed.

Functions Area of Responsibilities *Keeps the patient in continual observation *Remains alert and aware of any situations that might be harmful to the patient. *Keeps all patient information confidential. *Demonstrates tactful and caring behavior to patients, family, physicians, and visitors. *Responsible for proper management of patients with 1013 2013 status. May also be required to assist in management of patients displaying inappropriate behavior as determined by staff, but not assigned 1013 2013 status by appropriate individuals. *Intervenes to prevent harm and calls for immediately assistance. *Immediately informs nurse of any changes in patient behavior. *Works in conjunction with the nursing staff member assigned to care for the patient. *Assists the patient and family in meeting their identified needs. *Knowledgeable of departmental policies/procedures where applicable. *Provides support to Nursing, Security, and other departments as requested. *Complies with standards set forth by TJC and other regulatory agencies. *Participates in continuing education as mandated per policy through net learning. *Help clean rooms when not monitoring a patient *Walk lab samples to the lab for processing when not monitoring a patient *Sit at front desk and provide direction to patients and families. *Clean and store equipment *Collect patient's height, weight, and vital signs *Escort patients to treatment room or bathroom *Arrive patients in electronic health record *Perform EKGs on patients Compliance Statement Employee performs within the prescribed limits of Tanner Health System's Ethics and Compliance program.
