About the Role
The Company is seeking a Head of Turf Management to oversee the maintenance and performance of its playing fields and facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the fields are maintained to the highest standards, in line with NWSL playing standards, and are recognized as best-in-class. This role involves full oversight of field maintenance, including supervising construction and maintenance of grounds, daily field responsibilities such as mowing, irrigation, fertilizing, and pest control, as well as managing inventory and equipment maintenance programs. The Head of Turf Management will also be involved in budgeting, fostering professional relationships, and supervising field-related projects. Applicants must have 7-10 years' of related experience, with a minimum of 4 years in professional sports field maintenance and/or golf course maintenance, and a B.S. degree in turfgrass management, agronomy, or a related field. The role requires a deep knowledge of turfgrass science, landscape architecture, and experience in managing complex projects. The ideal candidate will have an Illinois Applicators license, excellent communication skills, and the ability to lead a high-performing team. Experience in maintaining high-end sports fields, particularly in the soccer industry, and membership in the Sports Turf Managers Association are preferred. The position demands physical stamina, the ability to work in various weather conditions, and a flexible schedule that includes non-standard work hours, weekends, and holidays.
