Assistant Apple Orchard Manager position available on a 1200 acre apple farm in Central Virginia. Responsibilities include monitoring apple orchards for disease and pest issues, monitoring plant and soil nutrient levels and assisting in planning of applications, assisting in pesticide planning, maintaining pesticide and nutrient records, monitoring weather and recording data, managing and monitoring the irrigation system, participating in or leading various cultural practices as needed and keeping records of trees and planting blocks. Must have at least some college and experience in orchard establishment and/or fresh fruit production. Experience supervising employees and working with university and industry specialists is a plus.
